At the Central College ground a few of the historic meets took place including the Gokak Chaluvali. Positive result has come to Karnataka and Kannada language. On Monday the same rendezvous witnessed the massive rally and protest on Dubbing to Karnataka becoming a bane.

It was very easy to say who did not come to the rally. Such was the attendance from cinema and television industry to protest against dubbing from non Kannada languages.

The rally in the morning started in four Lorries from Jnanajyothi auditorium and made a round to reach Central College ground at 1 pm.

At the huge dais at Central College playground the stars of Kannada cinema industry Shivarajakumar, Darshan, Sudeep, Vijay, Premkumar, Dr Jayamala, Jaggesh, Radhika Pandit, Shruthi, Dr Leelavathi, Vinodraj, Yash, Srinagara Kitty, Yogish, Hamsalekha, Vatal Nagaraj, TV industry prominent personalities, directors association and several Chaluvali leaders took the seat to address one by one.  

The protest rally speech took off with Nada Geethe.

LOOK AT WHAT THE STAR SPEAKERS HAVE SAID:

VATAL NAGARAJ – this is the place that saw ‘ekikarana of Karnataka state’. Dr Raj was there for Gokak and today his son Shivaraj is there. Today at DC offices we have burnt the effigies. We do not want to see the language forcefully coming from non Kannada actors. That is a ‘Bevarsi’ work. Today morning Chandrasekhar Patila, KSP, Kannada Pradhikara, Dr Kambara have extended support. Dr Kambara and actor Prem have fought on dubbing issue. Dr Kambara said I have told dubbing should come for only ‘Discovery’ channel. I am with you all stated Dr Kambar. If dubbing is enforced we will fire up theatres. For dubbing issue I don’t mind staying in prison for any number of years. At the council Thara had made a good voice. I would have been there in Council things would have been different. Vatal Nagaraj also emphasized on Kannada films in other states for three months screening.

HAMSALEKHA – Dr Baraguru Ramachandrappa is heading the cultural policy of the state. The issue of dubbing and remake ban should be included such report so that it becomes legislation. Then we could fight legally on the issue. If Kannadigas mind we can just finish like how ‘bed bug’ is finished. We should take up Kannada as ‘Raajya Baashe’. Today we have many Rajakumaras on stage. On this issue of dubbing first of all till 100 years of our industry a status quo has to be maintained. I don’t mind if someone pour kerosene and light up. ‘Nannannu Sutru Kannada Ulisi’ is my call.

KICHCHA SUDEEP – Even if I don’t attend the support is there. It is not right to pin point on someone not coming. Today we have come in strength but the central college should have been full I hope the ground will be full next time. After Sudeep unimpressive address even Darshan also vacated the place without giving his opinion on dubbing.

SHRUTHI – It is not ‘Hotte Padu’ but Kannada issue. You have to think from ‘Nyayalaya of your Heart’. Hiri and Kiri tere means left and right eye according to me.

JAGGESH – He strongly urged the television channels to stop gossiping. Nimma Bangarada Padagalige Namaskara, Nimma channel munde Bandu Uruluseve Bekadru Madthini = stop nonsense in channels.

Talk about Kannada films doing well. Our films have also made 20 to 60 crores business only in Karnataka market. Gossiping you channels lit the fire for suspicion. In those days SV Ranga Rao for dubbing in Kannada for his role ‘Kyakarsi Ugididdare’ – remember why such a stalwart has said like that said Jaggesh. I heard about a dog bite person today speaking on dubbing. He has done just two films. He says he has twenty years research. He is in thirties. It means he started research on dubbing at the age of 10. Jaggesh urge the television channels to not to allow such persons to the TV studios.

At this stage director MS Ramesh said four years ago Guruprasad (Jaggesh did not name this director) said dubbing means ‘Gobbara’. Has that become ‘Payasa’ for him now he asks. Guruprasad should know dubbing according to literary personality is like ‘Santhe Soole’ – don’t bring our daughters to the streets – MS Ramesh recalled.

DR LEELAVATHI – I completely agree with Hamsalekha. In the past ‘doddoru’ given call and in a short span of time Shivarajakumar has assembled a meet on dubbing.

ASHOK – we should have been alert when films of other heroes were brought in crores of rupees. We need a regional party to fight for Kannada and culture causes.

B SURESHA – The television industry comes to streets. We need cultural policy that is not questioned by anyone. Dubbing is like ‘Bagnavada Kruthi’ it is not ‘Kalakruthi’ but ‘Vikruthi’.

VIJAY – Hodithivi Bidalla! Thakkath, Gandasthana ide. James Bond cannot say Belli Mudithu… let it not happen. There is no need for us. Till my last breath I would fight. For Kannada Virodhis we show our strength.

YASH – One Dr Rajakumar film Bangarada Manushya talked about agriculturists, one Dr Vishnuvardhana film showed how we have to respect women; one Gandhada Gudi showed many more. Cinema is not just business. It is Bhavane. We cannot show Nanjundeswara in such dubbing films. We have the strength better than other languages. Speed and quality is our strength. We will not allow dubbing.

SRINAGARA KITTY – Kannada means ‘Namma Thana’. It would severely affect thousands of people if dubbing is allowed.

PREMKUMAR – I have only told Dr Kambara that he has not been properly informed on this dubbing issue. Discovery channel is given in Kannada it is overlapping. I have not said anything against to him. Producers have decided to ban me. I would not hereafter work in those producers’ films. I have come up from hard work. Hard work gave me three storied building today. All actors do not go and knock producers for films. They come to us is what they should understand.

PUNEETH RAJAKUMAR – What was not talked for last 56 years why is it coming up now. I have no anger on any language. Industry is like Kutumba. This situation has crossed limits. We should solve ourselves. We are here belief in the audiences. ‘Dayavittu Nam Kai Bidabedi’.  TV industry would severely get affected.

SHIVARAJAKUMAR – We are all united and giving a call on no dubbing. Here no one is a leader. All are leaders. Kannada is same for all. It is wrong to say because of Shivarajakumar. All support is needed for this type of rally and meeting. Even if five people have come it is important. Even if the ground is not full nothing to worry – Shivarajakumar has answered the concern of Sudeep. There is nothing that Dr Rajakumar family should rule and take leadership. For the sake of Kannada and dubbing I am ready to give my life. ‘Yavatto Hogo Prana Ivatte Hogali for Kannada’ said Shivarajakumar.  He urged media not to write like Shiv opened his 3rd or 4th eye.
